Books.....

Anyone that knows me well, knows about my love of BOOKS!! How else can you take an afternoon and look through the eyes of a scholor, stand next to someone famous, solve a mystery, be transported to a foreign land, live in history, fall hopelessly in love or learn more than you can ever remember about anything your heart desires?

I have so many books that I decided there was a need to find a way to keep them all in one place. I was reciting this plight to a dear friend at lunch one day. The next time we met, she brought me yet another book called At Home with Books. I found this to be a novel idea (pun intended)....a book about books!

This is a collection of wonderful photos on where to put books.

In the art gallery....
In the den......

In the bedroom......

In the living room.......

In the kitchen.....

Some of my favorites.....

Now, I don't see many books in here, but I sure do LOVE this room!!

Honestly, a lot of our books are in yet another room in our home. I looked and looked, but could not find ONE bathroom in this book. Can you imagine?
Where do you keep your books?

Bertie, sweet chick, I keep them in 2 bookcases, on floors, under tables, on top of little footstools too rickety for anyone to SIT on, chairs, under lamps, under pitcher collection and on side tables. I LOVE books to read and peruse and decorate with. Of course, we're now in a small 1800 s.f. but I'll find more places.

I LOVE that book also - the photos, I mean. BUT one room would probably hold my whole house and yard!! LOL I'm going to send the PRH group over here to see that, honey pie.

Smoochies from someone who loves ya,
Connie ;-)

Bertie, wow, I don't have that many books but if I did I would hope my rooms would look that good. Those are beautiful.

Hi Bertie, well we actually have a library in our house. Normal people might call it their family room but we have so many books that we built an entire library wall and it's filled to the brim, floor to ceiling. There is also a large antique cabinet from Belgium with pull down tambour doors, it's also filled and a small antique English bookcase also filled. The seating consists of a small couch, chair and ottoman and one recliner all in distressed leather and very comfy. Lots of reading lamps and side tables that have big piles of books and magazines spread out all the time. It's our favorite room in the house.

Hi Bertie, cute post. I have books in every room. Bookshelves, stacks of books, magazine racks, under lamps, kitchen has four cabinets for cookbooks. Two baskets of books where I set in the evening. I have so many books I make curtains to cover the bookshelves to keep the dust off them. Hubby has lots too, his office is full of bookshelves! He bought alot of antique books from the library when they had their sale. I bought a book on decortaing with books but have no time to read it. I really need to get rid of some books! LOL.

Bertie, what a great book about books! When my children were little we made a deal....when you finish a chapter book, you get a new one. Now, the house is overflowing and even though the older two are adults, they think this still stands! I just can't say no to someone who wants a book. Books are everywhere in my house. The bedrooms and two offices have bookshelves. My oldest son's room looks like a library as it is wall to wall shelves. I am in the process of buying more bookshelves to put in the piano room and make it into a library, but the kids want their books to stay in their rooms and don't want them all together!!! The new library is where hubby and my books, and little kid's books will go, (which by the way I tried to weed out, but the kids got upset). We are bookaholics.

I keep mine in our dining room hutch. And the video tapes in an antique dresser. lol :) I always dreamed of a library room, with a cozy fireplace and a big wing chair to sit in. :) Great Post Bertie. :)

I keep them everywhere! The books I'm reading or plan to read are in a basket next to my bed. I love to pass my books on to friends and I tell them to NOT return it to me but pass it on to someone they think might enjoy it.

Hi Bertie! Connie pretty well covered most of my favorite "stash" places!

I always have books & magazines by my bed, have to have them there within arm's reach.

You have sure posted some lovely room pics! Those ceilings alone are to die for!!

Hi Bertie! Thanks for leaving a message on my blog. Yes, let's do exchange links! Now, about those books....I have them stacked on marble tables with lamps on top; in bookcases of all things; near the bedtable; in my car...just a few places.
