Bet you all thought I'd fallen off the face of the earth! I almost felt as if I had.
Two days after my last post, I fell down the stairs and broke my right arm just below the shoulder. I was in an immobilizing brace for eight weeks and could not move my arm from my side or use my right hand at all. Because of that, my shoulder, elbow and wrist have all frozen and I will require many weeks of Physical Therapy to get the use of my right arm and hand back.
I am right handed and have been unable to type, write, eat, craft, sew or paint with that hand. Left-handed, I can now get a spoonful of soup to my mouth without it half spilling into my lap. I can make numbers with my left hand, but my writing is legible only to myself. I can type left handed now, but it take ten times as long.
The PT has helped a bit with the pain in my shoulder, but I still have a long way to go so will only be able to post as I progress. Long hours on the computer are no longer possible as the weight of my own arm on my shoulder creates a numbness after about 10 minutes and I have to go back to my recliner to rest it. Perhaps I need to invest in a laptop?
Hope everyone is happy and well and had a great Holiday!
Happy New Year to you all!!

Bertie, Happy New Year to you. I understand what you have been going through as it sounds like you had the same type of arm injury that my son had. He had this along with his fractured spine. Two months in the recliner is such a long time. You poor dear, but gradually you will get better, but it will take a few months. I hope the pain will go away and soon you will be back to doing "EVERYTHING!" I've missed you.
Hello Bertie, I'm so happy to see that you are posting agian! I've missed you and I'm praying for you to get through this PT without too much pain.

I just found your blog! How cute it is too! I noticed you have made some night lights, and they are adorable! I make lamps too, so if you get a chance, please stop by and see me...my husband is watching the Superbowl and I am just browsing around checking out other blogs today!

Hi Bertie, I am so sorry to hear about your fall and broken arm. Many years ago I too broke my arm in the same spot.
My prayers are with you for full use of your arm and that the PT goes well. I have missed you.
Wishing you a full recovery and better days ahead.
Take time and rest.
Love, Celestina Marie
